Let me start by saying that I’m really digging the new Apple iPad.

I especially like the iBooks marketplace that will likely enjoy a level of success similar to their iTunes offering, and I’m sure the video gamers will get a kick out of this iPhone/Touch on steroids.
I have no doubt in my mind that this gadget will crush the Kindle and other e-readers and give traditional gaming devices a run for their money.
Still, I can’t help but think that Apple’s decision to shun Flash (as they have done with the iPhone and iTouch) will prevent the iPad from truly replacing conventional laptops and netbooks in the mainstream marketplace.
Simply put, there are way too many websites out there that require Flash in order to render properly. And while I do understand that there are valid arguments for why Apple won’t embrace Flash, I don’t foresee Flash being phased out from mainstream web development anytime soon.
Therefore, until Apple adopts Flash or Flash goes the way of the iFrame (e.g. no longer used in mainstream web development) the company will not be able to accomplish Steve Job’s goal of obliterating the cheap laptop and netbook competition.
